PRODUCT INFORMATION
A quality and highly precision-engineered side angled grinding machine fitted with a double sided universal blade grinding disc designed to sharpen professionally horse and dog blades, as well as traditional sheep shearing cutters and combs.
The motor together with the special grinding disc is both designed and precisioned manufactured in Germany, using high-grade quality Solingen steel for which the area is world famous. The manufacturer of these special discs is a lengthy engineering process, to ensure only the highest performance is achieved when in use. Either single or double sided discs can be fitted to the machine. An instruction manual is supplied together with safety instructions.
A firm and flat working base is important. Ideally the grinder unit should be fixed to a sturdy work bench or similar location. You will need 4/6 screws or steel bolts with locking washers (not supplied due to the wide range of varying location this product may be secured to).
Hauptner blades should be fixed to the wooden block provided in the supplied kit. Other blades blade makes are likely to require specially made wooden block. These blocks ensure the correct application of the blade to the revolving disc as well as protecting the operator’s fingers. The blocks are designed for particular types of blades and are fitted with special holding pins and magnets to ensure the blade is offer and removed correctly to and from the grinding wheel during the sharpening process. Sheep shearing cutters and combs require a different made block (product code: 88664.200) compared to blocks used for horse/cattle or dog blades. The block 88664.200 will accommodate most makes of traditional shearing cutters and combs
Sharpening is a skilled operation, requiring professionally made machinery especially regarding the sharpening discs. Determining the variations in blade types and makes and sharpening correctly is a skill, which can be mastered but does require a degree of practice in order to achieve the high percentage of success required if you are to be successful.
Maintenance on the machine and wheel is low. Periodically and dependent upon the amount of use the disc will require cleaning. Ideally use a stiff brush to clean the ribbed surface. All old emery deposits should be removed with frequent brushing. Applications of the special emery wax to the disc surface are needed from time to time depending on the volume of blades sharpened. When ordering – dependant on the number of blades you envisage sharpening please remember to allow for sufficient emery wax
