All Oster “detachable blades” are made in the USA using high carbon steel to give an extended cutting life.
Often referred to in grooming circles as a “terrier” blade. It is also a very good blade for use in cases when a longer coat length is desired on the bodywork of the Schnauzer and is very effective on older dogs of this breed where the coat is starting to thin.
If a close finish is needed on the bodywork for a Mixed Breed this blade cuts close without denuding the dog. This blade could also be used for stripping extremely matted coats. The #8.5 blade can be used for various areas of the body on the Brussels Griffon, Cairn Terrier, and Cocker Spaniel (American).
On the Airedale the #8.5 blade can be used from the base of the skull, down along the back to the base of the tail. Used also to clip down the neck and shoulder, and often at the back end.
A wide range of attachment combs can be fitted over these blades to provide increased cutting length. Comb attachments should only be used on well-groomed dogs which have been groomed free of any tangles.
