Description
Disc Emery – Coarse
The fine emery can be distinguished from the coarse wax by the wax colour which in the case of the FINE EMERY is a light shade of black. (COARSE EMERY is a shade of pink/violet.)
NEW DISC PREPERATION
Before sharpening commences please read the instruction for the correct preparation of the disc.
In the case of a brand new or re-milled disc it is important to apply a small amount of light engine motor oil (such as SA30 Oil) to the surface of the disc before the use of any emery wax as it helps the applied emery to adhere to the disc surface.
At the start of sharpening Hauptner recomend you apply a combination of both fine and coarse emery wax on to the wheel to achieve a balanced mixture.
The wax should be applied in such a way as to cover the whole surface of the wheel. Experience will dictate judgement!
Below is a guide as recommended by the disc manufacturer.
Whilst many machine operators may have their own preferences drawn from their practical experience of individual blades this guide is intended to give initial guidance.
